The fieldwork phase for data collection under the ISIPSK research has successfully concluded. Transcription prior to data analysis has commenced earnestly by the team in preparation towards disseminating the research findings at local, national and international levels. In a brief ceremony on 28 July 2024, Dr Ife Okafor-Yarwood, the project lead, donated some equipment to research collaborators – Canoe and Fishing Gear Owners Association of Ghana (CaFGOAG) and the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC). The ceremony for the equipment donation was conducted in Abuesi at De L’Abamba Beach resort, as she joined the team to climax fieldwork activities during her visit to Ghana. Dr Okafor-Yarwood noted that the equipment were to support research collaborators in their instrumental role and to help them continue subsequent research activities under the ISIPSK research project that are to follow the data collection phase .
The items donated to CaFGOAG included a laptop, camera, printer, audio recorder, tablet, among others and were received by the President, Nana Kweigyah. Nana Kweigyah together with Kenneth Arthur of CaFGOAG took part of the one-month data collection exercise as Research Assistants (RAs). Dr Okafor-Yarwood, in a brief statement noted that the items donated to CaFGOAG were a token to enable them continue the good work as an organisation and urged them to using the skills acquired from the research to promote sustainability. In acknowledgement of the donated equipment, Nana Kweigyah, on behalf of CaFGOAG, expressed appreciation to Dr Okafor-Yarwood and the research team for the kind gesture. He noted that the research partnership has been a turning point for the association, whose members have become highly motivated for the experience gathered. He expressed thanks for the opportunities Dr Okafor-Yarwood has afforded CaFGOAG and hoped for greater and fruitful collaborations. He concluded that the items received will be used to further the ISIPSK project and used for the good of the association.

Following shortly was the donation ceremony of a laptop and a tablet to the FCWC. The items were received by Emmanuel Tenkorang, a Fisheries Management Officer with the FCWC, who also participated in the one-month ISIPSK data collection exercise as an RA. In her statement whilst presenting the items, Dr Okafor-Yarwood noted that the gesture was a way of showing her appreciation for the amazing work FCWC was doing. She expressed anticipation that the equipment would help the FCWC continue their work as a regional agency promoting sustainable fisheries and support the ISIPSK research project in sharing the outcome of the research. In acknowledgement, Emmanuel expressed appreciation to Dr Ifesinachi Okafor-Yarwood and the University of St Andrews. He pledged the support of the FCWC to take good care of the items and use them to help continue supporting the ISIPSK project. Emmanuel highlighted that the FCWC holds dear the fisheries sector and believes that the gesture would help continue the good work they are doing.
